Origin and world of the character
The plot of the TV series The Boys, adapted from the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, takes place in a dystopian world where individuals with superpowers are managed and marketed as entertainment products by the multinational company Vought International. Behind their carefully marketed heroic public image, most of these individuals are in reality narcissistic, corrupt or deviant. Homelander (The Protector) is the leader of the elite team known as the Seven. Endowed with physical invulnerability, superhuman strength, laser vision and the ability to fly, he hides an unstable, manipulative and tyrannical personality, making him the main target of the 'Boys', a group of powerless vigilantes determined to reveal the truth about the Vought firm.
