Character origin and backstory (Lore)

Directed by Matt Reeves and released in 2022, *The Batman* presents a version of Bruce Wayne set relatively early in his career as a vigilante. Robert Pattinson plays both the solitary billionaire Bruce Wayne and Batman, who for the past two years or so has become a nocturnal presence feared by Gotham City’s criminals.

The story begins when a series of murders targeting influential figures in Gotham leads Batman to investigate alongside Lieutenant James Gordon. The riddles left by Edward Nashton, alias the Riddler, gradually lead Bruce towards the corruption plaguing the city and towards revelations concerning his own family history. He also encounters Selina Kyle, Oswald Cobblepot and Carmine Falcone during his investigation.

This incarnation places particular emphasis on the character’s detective work and his personal development. Initially driven by a desire to instil fear and seek revenge, Bruce gradually realises that Batman must also become a figure capable of bringing hope to the people of Gotham. The DAH-117 figure accurately captures this dark and realistic version of the hero, complete with his functional armour, cape and the equipment used in the film.
