Character origin and lore
In the Disney animated universe, Stitch is a genetically modified alien creature, created by the mad scientist Jumba Jookiba for the sole purpose of destroying everything in his path. Endowed with Herculean strength, superior intelligence and an unfortunate tendency towards chaos, he manages to escape from his galactic prison and crash-lands on Earth, on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Mistaken for a dog, he is adopted by little Lilo from a shelter. Through the local culture and the sacred philosophy of Ohana — which states that “family means no one is left behind or forgotten” — the destructive monster learns compassion, loyalty and love. This writing set celebrates the cheerful, mischievous and deeply endearing personality of this character, who has become an iconic figure in pop culture.
