Character background and lore
In Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, overcome by the fear of losing Padmé and manipulated by Chancellor Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker commits the irreparable act of betraying the Jedi Order. Kneeling before the Dark Lord of the Sith, he is christened Darth Vader. It is at this very moment, whilst his physical body is still intact, that he is ordered to carry out Order 66 and purge the galaxy of his former brothers-in-arms.
