During the Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker served the Republic as a Jedi General. Captain Rex, service number CT-7567, fought alongside him at the head of the clone troopers of the 501st Legion and also served under the command of Ahsoka Tano.
The relationship between Anakin and Rex gradually develops around a strong mutual trust. Rex must first adapt to the Jedi’s unconventional methods, particularly his penchant for improvisation and his tendency to bend the rules, before developing a deep respect for his commander. StarWars.com highlights that this relationship between the Jedi and his clone officer is based on trust and loyalty, both on and off the battlefield.
This ‘Clones of the Republic’ set thus directly pairs the Jedi General with one of his key officers, complete with their signature equipment: Anakin’s lightsaber and helmet, and Rex’s two blasters. It allows collectors to recreate their partnership as it develops throughout *The Clone Wars*.
