This Hasbro articulated figure depicts IG-88, the fearsome assassin droid turned bounty hunter in *Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back*. Part of the Star Wars The Black Series collection, it measures 6 inches – approximately 15 cm – with a design directly inspired by its appearance in the film and premium articulation allowing for a variety of display poses.
IG-88 retains his instantly recognisable mechanical silhouette, with his very slender metallic body, long articulated legs and cylindrical head fitted with multiple sensors. The silver-grey and chrome finish replicates the droid’s weathered appearance as seen aboard the Super Star Destroyer Executor. The various cables, pistons, mechanical plates and technical components visible on its torso and limbs reinforce its appearance as a machine designed for combat.
The figure comes with a particularly comprehensive set of accessories, including two blasters, a vibro-axe and a holster. These accessories allow IG-88 to be displayed with different weapon configurations and reflect his status as a droid specialising in elimination missions and bounty hunting. Hasbro has also confirmed that the sculpt and paint scheme are directly inspired by *The Empire Strikes Back*.

Character background and universe (Lore)
IG-88 is an independent assassin droid who has chosen to become a bounty hunter. Unlike military droids under the control of an army or an owner, assassin droids of this type are designed as autonomous machines capable of tracking down and eliminating their targets. The official Star Wars databank describes IG-88 as a heavily damaged, chrome-plated war droid who has become a bounty hunter. In the official canon, his actual height is given as 1.96 m.
In *The Empire Strikes Back*, IG-88 answers Darth Vader’s call following the Battle of Hoth. The Sith Lord gathers several bounty hunters aboard the Executor and entrusts them with a mission: to track down the Millennium Falcon and its occupants. IG-88 thus finds himself competing against other famous bounty hunters, notably Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar and 4-LOM.
Although his screen time is relatively brief, his industrial design and status as an assassin droid quickly made IG-88 one of the most recognisable bounty hunters in the original trilogy. His primary weaponry includes a blaster rifle, in line with the official Star Wars profile. This Black Series figure accurately recreates his appearance in *The Empire Strikes Back*, at the moment he accepts Darth Vader’s contract to target the Millennium Falcon.
