Origin and character background
Captain Jean-Luc Picard, masterfully portrayed by British actor Sir Patrick Stewart, is the central character of the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, which premiered in 1987. Commander of the flagship USS Enterprise-D, he differs radically from his predecessor, Captain Kirk, in his deeply diplomatic, intellectual and thoughtful leadership style. A philosopher, amateur archaeologist and astute strategist, Picard places the pursuit of peace, morality and the Prime Directive above all else whilst exploring the galaxy. The process of teleportation (“Transporter”), inseparable from the franchise thanks to the iconic line “Beam me up”, takes on a spectacular dimension in this glittering edition, perfect for completing your crew on the bridge of your Star Trek collection.
