Character background and lore
Created by DreamWorks Studios in 2001, Shrek is a solitary and cynical ogre who values the peace and quiet of his swamp above all else. His tranquillity is one day disrupted by the arrival of fairy-tale creatures driven out by the tyrannical Lord Farquaad. To reclaim his swamp, Shrek is forced to embark on a heroic quest: to rescue Princess Fiona, held captive in a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon, accompanied – much to his chagrin – by a particularly chatty donkey.
A true masterpiece of animated cinema that has turned traditional fairy tales on their head, the Shrek saga promotes strong values of self-acceptance, friendship and tolerance beyond appearances. This themed mug celebrates this extraordinary hero with a hidden big heart and adds a touch of originality and warmth to your daily routine.
