Origin and background of the character
First introduced in the original Pokémon Red and Blue versions in 1996 on the Game Boy, Gengar is the final evolution of Drowzee and Specter. This Ghost- and Poison-type Pokémon is famous for its ability to blend completely into the shadows of its targets in order to steal their body heat or play tricks on them. With its rounded design contrasting with its sinister aura, it has quickly established itself as one of the most popular mascots in global pop culture. This giant format perfectly showcases its iconic shape and deep purple colour, making it a spectacular centrepiece that’s a must-have to complete any Kanto region Trainer’s Pokédex.
