Origin and character background (Lore)
In the pirate epic One Piece, Roronoa Zoro is the very first companion to join Monkey D. Luffy on his adventure, becoming the loyal right-hand man of the Straw Hat crew. A former formidable bounty hunter, he pursues an unwavering childhood dream: to become the world’s greatest swordsman by surpassing the Corsair Dracule Mihawk. Zoro is distinguished by his unique fighting style, the Santoryu (the three-sword style), which involves wielding two blades in his hands and a third, the legendary Wado Ichimonji, clenched between his teeth. Famous for his abysmal sense of direction, which constantly leads him to get lost even in the simplest of settings, he compensates for this flaw with Herculean physical strength, an unwavering sense of honour and a legendary tolerance for pain, which drives him to train daily with massive weights to protect his friends from the dangers of the New World.
