Origin and background of the character
Shanks, better known in adulthood by the pseudonym ‘Red-Haired Shanks’, is one of the most influential and respected figures in the global epic One Piece created by manga artist Eiichiro Oda. Before founding his own crew, becoming one of the fearsome Four Emperors (Yonko) of the New World, and inspiring the young Monkey D. Luffy by entrusting him with his precious straw hat, Shanks spent his childhood as a ship’s boy aboard the vessel of Edward Newgate and the legendary Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. Alongside his lifelong rival Baggy the Clown, he learnt the basics of navigation and camaraderie on the most dangerous seas.
This 9 cm figurine from "The Grandline Children" collection perfectly captures all the cheerful charm, mischief and budding charisma of the future emperor during his apprenticeship. The sculpture meticulously highlights his signature bright red hair (still free of his famous eye scars), his vintage striped T-shirt, his little shorts and his original straw hat firmly perched on his head. It is an absolute must-have for any collector wishing to add a touch of history, depth and retro charm to their display case dedicated to the legends of Grand Line*.
