Character origin and background (Lore)
Monkey D. Luffy, nicknamed ‘Straw Hat Luffy’, is the central protagonist of the legendary manga and anime series One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda. Having eaten the Rubber Devil Fruit (the Gomu Gomu no Mi, later revealed to be the mythological Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika), he possesses an elastic body and the ability to embody the Sun God to liberate people from oppression. Having become one of the Four Emperors of the Seas, he sails aboard the Thousand Sunny with one unwavering goal: to discover the legendary treasure of Gol D. Roger and become the Pirate King.
This figurine is directly inspired bythe Egghead Arc, a pivotal stage in the story where the crew lands on the futuristic island of the brilliant and mysterious Marine scientist, Dr Vegapunk. Upon their arrival, the heroes swap their traditional clothing for advanced gear provided by local technology. Luffy dons an exploration suit with a retro-futuristic astronaut look and special magnetic shoes, perfectly suited to the infrastructure of this city of science. This model stands out as an essential centrepiece for all fans who follow the series’ modern developments and latest story arcs.
