Meet Marshall D. Teach, better known as Blackbeard, with this impressive Banpresto figurine from the Grandista collection. Standing approximately 22 cm tall, it showcases one of One Piece’s most formidable pirates in a design that benefits from the large scale and high level of sculpting characteristic of this range.
The figure depicts Teach in an open, defiant pose, with his arms outstretched and his hands reaching forward. His instantly recognisable appearance is faithfully reproduced, complete with his long black beard, broad smile, imposing pirate hat adorned with a skull-and-crossbones emblem, and his spectacular coat trimmed with orange feathers. His dark, open jacket reveals his torso, whilst his numerous rings, belts and accessories reinforce the character’s exuberant appearance.
Made from PVC, this piece joins Banpresto’s Grandista range, dedicated to large-scale figurines that prioritise visual impact and sculptural detail.
Marshall D. Teach, nicknamed Blackbeard, is the captain and admiral of Blackbeard’s crew, as well as one of the members of the Worst Generation. A former member of Whitebeard’s crew, he left after killing one of his comrades and founded his own crew. His particularly rapid rise led him successively to the rank of Grand Corsair, then to that of Emperor of the Seas. His official bounty stands at 3.996 billion berrys.
Teach possesses the power of the Yami Yami no Mi, the Dark-Dark Fruit, which enables him, amongst other things, to manipulate darkness and draw his opponents towards him. During the Battle of Marineford, his crew intervened following the clash between the Marines and Whitebeard. Teach then also seized the power of the Gura Gura no Mi, previously held by Edward Newgate, granting him access to the formidable seismic abilities of this Devil Fruit.
Ambitious, opportunistic and prepared to use any means necessary to achieve his goals, Blackbeard is one of the leading powers in the current era of piracy. His journey is closely linked to that of Luffy, from the capture of Portgas D. Ace right through to his ascension to the rank of Emperor. The Grandista figurine accurately captures his current appearance and can be displayed alongside figures of Luffy, Shanks and Buggy to form the group of the Four Emperors.
