Origin and background of the character
Sally is the indispensable, sensitive and determined heroine of the stop-motion animated masterpiece The Nightmare Before Christmas, produced and conceived by Tim Burton. Created from scratch by the mad scientist Dr Finkelstein, this humanoid rag doll possesses a free spirit and remarkable intuition, constantly freeing herself from captivity with the help of medicinal plants and sleeping potions. Secretly in love with Jack Skellington, she is the only one to foresee the disastrous turn his Christmas plans will take, using her insight and her unique ability to sew her own detachable limbs back on in an attempt to save the Pumpkin King and preserve the festive spirit.
