NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS - POP Disney N° 1604 - Jack (Sketched)

This Funko POP! Disney figurine (No. 1604) depicts Jack Skellington, the famous Pumpkin King from *The Nightmare Before Christmas*, in a special ‘Sketched Deco’ version. Standing approximately 10.2 cm tall, it reimagines the character with a graphic design that gives the impression he has just stepped straight out of a drawing or sketch.

The figurine retains Jack Skellington’s instantly recognisable silhouette: an extremely slender body, a round skeletal head, a broad stitched smile and his characteristic striped suit. The distinctive feature of this edition lies in its ‘Sketched’ finish, which replicates the irregular and expressive look of a hand-drawn sketch rather than a conventional, uniform finish. This design particularly emphasises the lines of the costume and the character’s facial features.

The graphic style fits particularly well with the aesthetic of The Nightmare Before Christmas, whose characters are already distinguished by their elongated shapes and their deliberately Gothic-inspired appearance. This version retains the traditional compact format of the POP! range whilst offering a finish distinct enough to be displayed alongside other variations of Jack Skellington.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Jack Skellington is the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, a world entirely devoted to preparing for and celebrating Halloween. Respected by the inhabitants for his talent in organising the scariest festivities every year, Jack nevertheless eventually grows tired of constantly repeating the same routine. Disney describes him as a character who is weary of constantly being scary and is searching for something new.

Whilst out for a walk beyond Halloween Town, Jack accidentally discovers Christmas Town. Fascinated by the lights, colours, presents and the warm, festive atmosphere of Christmas, he returns home with the idea of recreating the celebration in his own way. He then rallies the residents of Halloween Town to make presents and even decides to take the place of Father Christmas.

However, his plan quickly turns into a disaster: the eerie creations of the residents of Halloween Town turn the gift-giving into a real nightmare. Jack eventually realises that his true talent lies in Halloween and rediscovers his place as the Pumpkin King, whilst Sally helps him to make amends for the consequences of his initiative.

Released in 1993 and directed by Henry Selick from a story by Tim Burton, The Nightmare Before Christmas has become one of Disney’s most iconic stop-motion films. The ‘Sketched’ style of this POP! No. 1604 particularly echoes the character’s visual identity, emphasising the fine, irregular and expressive lines that have characterised Jack Skellington since his earliest appearances.
