Origin and character background
Gaara (also known as Gaara of the Desert) is one of the most iconic and complex characters in the masterful Naruto, the essential Shonen manga created by Masashi Kishimoto. An unwitting host to the fearsome one-tailed demon Shukaku, he grew up marginalised, feared and rejected by his own village before finding redemption and his path as a ninja thanks to his fateful encounter with Naruto Uzumaki. Having become the fifth Kazekage of the Hidden Village of Suna at a very young age, he fights tirelessly to protect his community. Gaara has mastered the absolute manipulation of sand, which he carries at all times in a huge gourd jar strapped to his back, allowing him to unleash devastating techniques such as the Desert Tomb or to shape an autonomous, virtually impenetrable sand shield. Banpresto’s “Combination Battle” collection aims to capture all the tension of these strategic martial clashes, offering collectors the perfect complementary pieces to recreate the saga’s iconic battle scenes.
