Character background and universe (Lore)
In the expanded Naruto lore, Naruto Uzumaki is a young orphaned ninja from the Hidden Village of Konoha. His life is irrevocably changed from the moment of his birth when the Fourth Hokage seals the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox (Kyûbi), a destructive chakra creature, within him. Rejected and feared by the villagers because of this burden, he resolves to overcome his loneliness by setting himself the ultimate goal of becoming Hokage himself, in order to gain the recognition of his peers. Under the tutelage of Kakashi Hatake and the legendary Jiraiya, he learns to master his spiritual and physical energy (Chakra) to develop his own devastating combat techniques, such as the Multi-Clone Technique and the Rasengan. His unwavering integrity, his nindō (the way of the ninja) – which means never going back on his word – and his purity of spirit make this young novice an elite fighter who is indispensable to protecting the world from the threats posed by Akatsuki.
