Origin and background of the character
Jin (Kim Seok-jin) is the eldest member of the South Korean boy band BTS, which has become a true global cultural phenomenon. In late 2022, just before beginning his compulsory military service, the artist treated his fans to a particularly moving farewell solo single entitled ‘The Astronaut’, co-written with the famous British band Coldplay. The track and its music video tell the story of an alien astronaut who chooses to stay on Earth out of love for his loved ones – a touching metaphor for his relationship with his fan community (the ARMY). This Funko Pop! figurine faithfully captures his laid-back space-age look and stage charisma, making it an essential must-have to complete any K-pop fan’s collection.
