Character background and lore
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning was released in 2006 and serves as a prequel to the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film follows two brothers and their girlfriends, whose trip to Texas turns into a nightmare when they cross paths with the Hewitt family. Andrew Bryniarski plays Thomas Hewitt, better known as Leatherface.
This story explores, in particular, the origins of this version of Leatherface and the circumstances that lead him to become the masked killer seen in the 2003 film. Thomas lives with the Hewitt family and uses various masks to conceal his face. The story also shows how his family environment contributes to fuelling his violence and turning him into one of the clan’s most fearsome members.
The NECA set focuses specifically on the slaughterhouse sequence, where Leatherface gradually transforms this former workplace into a place of slaughter. The victim on the table, the hook, the tools and the wooden furniture allow this central scene from the film to be recreated.
