From MARRIAGETOXIN, this Banpresto figurine depicts Hikaru Gero, heir to a lineage of poison masters and the protagonist of the series created by Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda. Presented here in the ‘Poison Master’ version, it stands approximately 24 cm tall and captures the assassin’s elegant yet unconventional appearance.
Hikaru is depicted with his dark blue hair, rectangular glasses and an outfit comprising a light-coloured shirt, black trousers and a long, dark coat, the tails of which trail behind him. The blue and red collar adds a splash of colour to the ensemble, whilst his upright and confident posture emphasises his professional demeanour. One of his arms is drawn across his chest, evoking the equipment and techniques associated with his role as a Poison Master.
The sculpture emphasises a slender silhouette and detailed rendering of the clothing, particularly the pleats in the trousers and the sense of movement in the coat. Its 24 cm size makes for a striking display piece whilst maintaining a understated composition, centred directly on the figure.
Hikaru Gero is the protagonist of *Marriage Toxin*, a manga written by Joumyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda. As the heir to a family of poison masters that has been active for several centuries, Gero has spent his entire life in the clandestine world of assassins. Excellent at his trade but completely inexperienced in matters of the heart, he initially regards marriage as something that has nothing to do with him.
The situation changes when his family demands that an heir ensure the continuation of the lineage. Refusing to let this responsibility fall on his sister, Hikaru decides to seek a wife himself. To succeed in a mission where his skills as an assassin are of no help whatsoever, he turns to Mei Kinosaki, a specialist in marriage scams, to teach him the art of seduction and help him find a partner.
The series thus combines action, romantic comedy and the world of assassins, with Gero’s quest for marriage regularly leading him to face off against other specialists with their own unique techniques. The contrast between his expertise as a Poison Master and his total lack of romantic experience is one of the central themes of MARRIAGETOXIN.
