Character origin and universe
Based on the famous and dark graphic novel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, published in 2020 by IDW Publishing, this iteration plunges fans into a dystopian future in New York. Dark times have swept over the Hamato clan: the city has fallen under the totalitarian control of Oroku Hiroto, Shredder’s grandson. Following the tragic deaths of his brothers Leonardo, Raphael and Donatello, as well as Master Splinter, a single Ninja Turtle has survived this massacre. Concealing his true identity behind a black mask, this Last Ronin, haunted by the ghosts of his family, wields the Katana, the Sai, the Nunchaku and the Bo simultaneously. This dark and mature work recounts his final, desperate crusade to honour the memory of his loved ones and restore justice.
