This Funko POP! Comics No. 67 figure depicts Leonardo in a design directly inspired by the aesthetic of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics. Officially named ‘Leonardo (Battle Damaged) (Comic Deco)’ by Funko, this version features a red and greyscale colour scheme that pays homage to the franchise’s graphic origins. The figurine stands approximately 9.9 cm tall.
Leonardo is depicted in a combat pose, with a Comic Deco finish characterised by stark contrasts between red, black, white and grey. The Battle Damaged treatment gives him a battle-worn appearance and reinforces the raw aesthetic of this edition, which is very different from the colourful versions seen in modern animated adaptations. Funko specifically describes this variant as a ‘red-and-greyscale comic deco’ reinterpretation.
This version also pays homage to the character’s comic book roots by emphasising red in its visual design. Whilst Leonardo is now primarily associated with the blue mask in animated and film adaptations, this edition forms part of a series deliberately designed around the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ historic visual identity.
The base is another distinctive feature of the collection. The bases of the four brothers are designed to fit together: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo form a complete manhole cover when placed side by side. Each figure is, however, designed to be displayed separately.

Character background and lore
Leonardo is one of the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brothers, alongside Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo. He traditionally acts as the team’s leader and is distinguished by his sense of discipline, his ability to devise strategies and his devotion to Splinter’s teachings. Nickelodeon describes him as the brother who sees himself as responsible for the group and who is prepared to go to great lengths to protect his family.
His weapon of choice is the katana, and Leonardo is portrayed as a particularly skilled swordsman. In modern adaptations, his signature colour is blue, whilst his first name pays homage to Leonardo da Vinci. His temperament, which is generally more serious than that of his brothers, also contributes to his role as leader.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was created in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The two artists self-published their first comic in May 1984, before the four turtles went on to become the heroes of an international franchise spanning animated series, films, video games and merchandise.
This POP! No. 67 pays direct homage to these publishing origins. Its red and greyscale colour scheme, its ‘Battle Damaged’ look and its base—designed to slot together with those of his three brothers—evoke a rawer, more graphic version of the Ninja Turtles. When paired with POP! Comics No. 65 Donatello, No. 66 Raphael and No. 68 Michelangelo, it completes the manhole cover designed by Funko for the entire series.
