Origin and character background (Lore)
Released in cinemas in 2009 by Pixar Studios,Up is a cinematic masterpiece that won two Oscars, acclaimed for its poetry, emotion and sense of wonder. The story follows Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old retired balloon salesman who has become grumpy and reclusive since the death of his wife and the love of his life, Ellie. Faced with the threat of losing his home, Carl decides to fulfil the dream of exploration they had shared since childhood: to attach thousands of helium-filled balloons to his chimney and fly off to the distant and mysterious Paradise Falls in South America.
The aviator’s cap that Carl is wearing on this figurine is an object of immense sentimental value. It is the leather cap he used to wear as a child when he imagined himself as an intrepid pilot alongside Ellie, both of them fervent admirers of the famous explorer Charles Muntz. This figurine tenderly captures the nostalgic essence and courage of this character, reminding us that life’s greatest adventures are sometimes found in promises kept and unexpected encounters.
