Based on K-ON!, this Banpresto figurine depicts Tsumugi Kotobuki, nicknamed Mugi, as part of the SQ Figure collection. Standing approximately 23 cm tall, it depicts the Ho-kago Tea Time keyboardist in a summer school uniform and a simple, natural pose, in keeping with the character’s gentle and cheerful nature.
Here, Tsumugi wears a white short-sleeved shirt, covered by a cream-coloured sleeveless waistcoat, with a blue ribbon tied at the collar and a bluish-grey pleated skirt. Her long blonde locks flow around her figure, lending the sculpture a slight sense of movement. Her hands are held close together in front of her and her face wears an open, smiling expression. Unlike some earlier SQ figurines of the character, this version does not depict her with her keyboard.
Made from PVC, this non-articulated figurine is designed for display. Her style and outfit complement the other new SQ Figures dedicated to the members of K-ON!, making it possible to display her alongside the versions of Yui Hirasawa, Mio Akiyama and Ritsu Tainaka from the same series.
Tsumugi Kotobuki, usually known as Mugi, is one of the founding members of the K-ON! light music club. She joined Ritsu Tainaka and Mio Akiyama before Yui Hirasawa arrived. The group went on to form Ho-kago Tea Time, later joined by Azusa Nakano. Kyoto Animation describes Tsumugi as a calm and composed young girl.
Coming from a well-off family, Tsumugi has been playing the piano since the age of four and has already won awards in competitions. The official TBS profile describes her as gentle, sociable and always smiling. She regularly brings tea and pastries to the club room, contributing to the many food-filled breaks that have become a hallmark of the series.
Within Ho-kago Tea Time, Mugi plays the keyboard. However, this new SQ Figure does not directly depict her musical activities: instead, it focuses on an everyday portrayal of the character in her summer uniform, faithful to her appearance in the series.
