Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Released in 1996 and inspired by Victor Hugo's historical novel, Disney's animated film tells the story of Quasimodo, the orphan bell-ringer from Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, hidden from the world by the cruel judge Claude Frollo because of his physical deformities. Reclining in his bell tower with only living gargoyles and rooftop birds for friends, Quasimodo harbours a secret dream of coming down to the forecourt to mingle with Parisians, especially during the Festival of Fools. His encounter with the brave gypsy Esmeralda will change his destiny, inspiring him to show exceptional courage to protect his friends and save the city. This figurine captures all the sensitivity and poetry of this timeless Disney hero.
