Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Originally a member of the rich and cruel Malfoy family, Dobby is a house elf with a unique and atypical aspiration for his race: a deep love of freedom. Aware of a plot against Harry Potter, he desperately tries to prevent the young boy from returning to Hogwarts for his second year by issuing a series of clumsy and destructive warnings. Freed from his masters thanks to Harry's ingenious ploy involving a simple sock, he becomes a free elf and takes a paid job in the kitchens of the prestigious magical school. An unwavering and devoted ally, Dobby would not hesitate to risk his life on numerous occasions to rescue his friends, culminating in his heroic sacrifice during the escape from Malfoy Manor. His final resting place bears the timeless inscription: "Here lies Dobby, free elf".
