HARRY POTTER - Hogwarts Castle - Magnetic Bookmark

This Pyramid International magnetic bookmark, officially licensed by Harry Potter, features Hogwarts Castle in a night-time scene directly inspired by the arrival at the school of witchcraft and wizardry. Compact and lightweight, it attaches to a page using two magnetic sections, allowing it to stay securely in place in a novel, notebook or diary.

The design depicts Hogwarts illuminated at night, standing on the cliffs overlooking the lake. In the foreground, several small boats cross the water towards the castle, their lanterns creating a string of glowing lights. This scene evokes the traditional arrival of first-year pupils, who catch their first glimpse of Hogwarts’ illuminated towers from the lake.

The lower section features the Harry Potter logo in a gold finish, whilst the rest of the design favours dark, nocturnal tones of deep blue, black and grey. The vertical format allows for a relatively detailed illustration despite the small dimensions typical of a magnetic bookmark.

Origin and lore

Hogwarts is the British school of witchcraft and wizardry at the heart of the Harry Potter universe. Founded in the 10th century by Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin, it was built in the Scottish Highlands and protected by numerous enchantments to keep it hidden from Muggles. The four founders also established the four houses that now bear their names.

The castle is a vast magical complex comprising numerous towers, dungeons, secret rooms, hidden passageways and staircases. It is home, in particular, to the Great Hall, the library, the Astronomy Tower and the Room of Requirement. Even Albus Dumbledore admits that he does not know all the secrets contained within this centuries-old building.

The lake surrounding Hogwarts also plays a special role in the arrival of new pupils. After their journey on the Hogwarts Express and their arrival near Hogsmeade, first-year pupils traditionally cross the lake in small rowing boats. It is on this occasion that they catch their first glimpse of the illuminated castle and its tall towers silhouetted against the night sky – precisely the image depicted on this bookmark.

For Harry, this first glimpse of Hogwarts marks his definitive entry into the wizarding world. The school then becomes the main setting for his formative years, his encounters with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, and many pivotal events in his confrontation with Voldemort. The castle has thus become one of the most iconic locations in the entire Harry Potter saga.
