James Potter is Harry Potter’s father and one of the four members of the Marauders. A Gryffindor pupil at Hogwarts, he forms a close bond with Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. The quartet quickly made a name for themselves through their many escapades and their keen sense of humour, but also for their particularly advanced magical feats.
When James, Sirius and Peter discover that Remus Lupin is a werewolf, they secretly learn to become Animagi so that they can accompany him during his transformations. James is thus able to take the form of a stag, which earns him the nickname Prongs. Sirius becomes Padfoot, Peter Wormtail, and Remus – whose lycanthropy is the reason behind their nocturnal escapades – is nicknamed Moony.
The four friends also create the Marauder’s Map, a magical parchment capable of mapping out Hogwarts, its secret passages and the movements of everyone in the castle. The map utilises, amongst other things, the Homunculus Charm and is not fooled by invisibility cloaks, Polyjuice Potion or Animagus transformations. It bears the nicknames of its four creators and, many years later, becomes a valuable tool for Harry Potter.
As an adult, James married Lily Evans and, together with her, joined the Order of the Phoenix to fight Lord Voldemort. Both were murdered by Voldemort whilst their son Harry was still a baby. This POP! figurine, however, chooses to depict James through his Marauder past, linking him directly to one of his most famous creations and his identity as Cornedrue.
