GUNDAM UNICORN - Unicorn (Destroy mode) - Figure Genkai Toppa 25cm

This Banpresto figurine depicts the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam in its spectacular Destroy Mode, as it appears in *Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn*. Part of the Genkai Toppa collection, it stands approximately 25 cm tall and particularly highlights the Mobile Suit’s transformed silhouette, with its armour panels deployed and its Psycho-Frame exposed.

The Unicorn Gundam retains its characteristic white armour, but here it is largely open to reveal the red sections of the Psycho-Frame on the torso, shoulders, arms, waist and legs. The head also takes on its full Gundam configuration, with the large, extended golden V-Fin, green eyes and matching frontal sensor. Navy blue elements feature notably on the feet and the backpack, providing a striking contrast to the dominant white and red.

The sculpt favours an upright and imposing stance, allowing the transformation across the entire body to be clearly appreciated. The various armour panels, the bulk of the shoulders and legs, and the numerous openings revealing the Psycho-Frame give this version a significantly more complex silhouette than that of Unicorn Mode.

Measuring 25 cm, this Genkai Toppa figure is particularly large for a Banpresto figure and is ideal for a central display in a Gundam collection. It is a ready-to-display figure and not a model kit requiring assembly.

Origin and background of the model (Lore)

The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam is the central Mobile Suit in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and is primarily piloted by Banagher Links. Its standard appearance, known as Unicorn Mode, is characterised by relatively understated white armour and a single frontal horn. When it activates its NT-D system, the Mobile Suit undergoes a profound transformation: the horn splits to form a V-Fin, various sections of the armour reposition themselves, and the Psycho-Frame integrated into its structure becomes visible across the entire body. The result is the Destroy Mode, which is reproduced by this figurine.

The Psycho-Frame is one of the key elements of this transformation. In Destroy Mode, its red sections become visible beneath the open armour panels and radically alter the silhouette of the RX-0. This configuration is also directly linked to the capabilities of the NT-D system, designed to enable the Unicorn Gundam to confront Mobile Suits utilising Newtype-related technologies.

In the story, Banagher utilises this transformation during several major battles. Notably, during his fight against Full Frontal’s Sinanju, the Unicorn Gundam switches to Destroy Mode before engaging the enemy Mobile Suit head-on. This white, red and gold appearance has thus become one of the most iconic representations of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and is precisely the configuration chosen for this Genkai Toppa figurine.
