Character background and universe (Lore)

The Ghost Viper is a new type of Cobra soldier introduced into the G.I. Joe universe with the Classified Series range. He belongs to Cobra’s supernatural ‘Shock Troopers’ and utilises experimental technology known as D.I.R.E., which stands for Dread-Inducing Responsive Energy.

This energy enables spectral manifestations to materialise in various terrifying forms, including wolves, snakes, claws and monstrous apparitions. The Ghost Viper carries this energy via a containment system and uses a specialised projector to release it onto the battlefield.

The D.I.R.E. Beasts are the most visible manifestation of this technology. Presented as the front line of Cobra’s supernatural troops, the Ghost Vipers nevertheless wield forces they do not fully understand, giving this unit an experimental and unsettling dimension within the organisation.

This Classified Series version directly highlights this concept through the articulated wolf, the spectral snake and the numerous interchangeable effects that allow for the recreation of different forms of D.I.R.E. energy.
