Origin and world of the character (Lore)
The world of the sitcom Friends, created in 1994, is full of cult and eccentric moments brought to life by the character of Phoebe Buffay. This design was directly inspired by episode 20 of season 4, 'The One with All the Wedding Dresses'. In this episode, Monica Geller picks up Rachel's wedding dress, then decides to wear it home to do the dishes and relax. She is soon joined by Phoebe, who rents her own wedding dress from a wedding dress shop to share in the fun. Later joined by Rachel, this trio in white dresses on the sofa in the flat remains one of the most memorable and funny scenes of friendship in the entire series.
