This Banpresto figurine depicts Son Gohan during one of the most iconic moments of the Cell Saga in Dragon Ball Z. Part of the Grandista collection, it stands approximately 29 cm tall and captures the young Saiyan’s appearance after he unleashed his immense power whilst facing Cell.
Gohan is depicted in his Super Saiyan 2 form, with his imposing golden hair standing on end and the characteristic long strand falling across his forehead. His particularly stern green gaze, furrowed brows and clenched fists reflect the much colder and more determined demeanour he adopts after unleashing his anger during the Cell Games. This transformation is officially identified as Super Saiyan 2, a form that Gohan achieves during his clash with Cell.
He wears the purple dôgi inspired by Piccolo, accompanied by a wide blue belt and matching armbands. The outfit is heavily damaged here from the fight: the sleeves are missing, the top’s hems are torn, and the trousers feature a large tear in one leg. The numerous creases sculpted into the fabric and the tears reinforce the character’s battered appearance following the successive battles of the Cell Games.
The pose remains deliberately understated yet powerful: Gohan stands upright, legs slightly apart, both fists clenched at either side of his body. This choice allows the Grandista range to focus attention on his stature, his musculature and, above all, the voluminous sculpting of his hair. The official Banpresto website specifically highlights the work carried out on the hair and the folds of his costume.

Character background and universe (Lore)
Son Gohan is the eldest son of Son Goku and Chichi. Unlike his father, he is not naturally drawn to fighting, but has possessed extraordinary potential since childhood, which manifests when intense emotion unleashes his power. Following the Saiyans’ arrival on Earth, Piccolo takes the young boy under his wing and trains him to prepare him for battle against Vegeta and Nappa. This period forges a particularly strong bond between them, which will endure throughout the series.
Gohan then takes part in the events on Namek before becoming one of the key fighters during the Android and Cell crises. Faced with the growing threat of Cell, he trains with Goku in the Room of Spirit and Time and learns to master the Super Saiyan transformation on a sustained basis. When his training armour is almost destroyed, he asks Piccolo to create an outfit similar to his own: it is this purple dôgi that this Grandista figurine faithfully reproduces.
During the Cell Games, Goku realises that his son’s potential exceeds his own and entrusts him with the responsibility of facing Cell. Gohan initially refuses to give in to anger, but the attacks inflicted on his friends by the Cell Juniors, followed by the destruction of Android 16 before his very eyes, finally cause his rage to erupt. He then surpasses the Super Saiyan level and becomes Super Saiyan 2, a transformation accompanied by a spectacular increase in his power.
Now vastly superior to Cell, Gohan dominates his opponent but allows his overconfidence to prolong the fight. After Goku’s sacrifice to prevent Cell from destroying Earth, the bio-android returns even more powerful. Wounded in one arm, Gohan finally manages to destroy him with a final Kamehameha, launched with the spiritual support of his father. This battle establishes Gohan as one of the central characters of the entire Cell Saga and explains why his Super Saiyan 2 form remains one of the most iconic images in *Dragon Ball Z*.
