DRAGON BALL Z - Nappa - Figure Solid Edge Works 19cm

From Dragon Ball Z, this Banpresto figurine depicts Nappa, an elite Saiyan warrior and Vegeta’s companion during the Saiyan arc. Part of the Solid Edge Works collection, it stands approximately 19 cm tall and recreates the character’s appearance upon his arrival on Earth.

Nappa is depicted standing, arms crossed over his chest, with a broad smile that emphasises his confidence. His massive musculature is highlighted by his Saiyan combat armour: a dark blue chest plate edged in white, shoulder pads and abdominal guards in shades of golden ochre, matching boots and wrist guards. His Saiyan tail is wrapped around his waist, a characteristic detail of his appearance during this period.

His face features his shaved head, black moustache and the purple Scouter worn over his left eye. His relatively static posture contrasts with the character’s imposing build and reflects the confident demeanour he displays before his battles. The Solid Edge Works collection has opted here for a sculpture that emphasises the volume of the armour, the musculature and Nappa’s instantly recognisable silhouette.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Nappa is an elite Saiyan warrior who fights alongside Vegeta and joins him on various conquest missions across the galaxy. After learning of the existence of the Dragon Balls through communications from Raditz, the two Saiyans travel to Earth with the intention of using them to achieve immortality.

Upon their arrival, Nappa immediately demonstrates his power by destroying East City with a single attack. Faced with Earth’s fighters, he begins by deploying the Saibaimen, then intervenes personally once they have been defeated. His physical strength allows him to dominate several opponents, including Tenshinhan, Piccolo and Krillin, and even Chaozu’s suicide blast barely manages to injure him.

The situation changes with the arrival of Son Goku, who has returned to Earth after his training with Kaio. Nappa proves unable to keep up with his opponent’s speed and power, before finally being defeated by the Kaioken. When Nappa then asks Vegeta for help, Vegeta considers his companion to have become useless and eliminates him himself.

This Solid Edge Works figurine therefore depicts Nappa in his iconic Saiyan arc appearance: combat armour, Scouter, tail wrapped around his waist, and a confident demeanour ahead of the battles that mark his arrival on Earth.
