Character background and lore
Released in cinemas in 2012 by Pixar Studios,Brave reimagines traditional fairy tales with a story centred on family ties and female independence. The story is set in the Highlands of medieval Scotland. Merida, daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor, is a feisty princess who refuses to bow to the ancestral customs of her kingdom. An excellent archer and a skilled horseman riding her trusty steed Angus, she rejects the idea of an arranged marriage to one of the sons of the lords of the allied clans.
Her quest for independence leads her to seek the help of an eccentric witch, inadvertently triggering a spell that turns her mother into a bear. Merida must then summon immense courage and understand the true meaning of responsibility to break the curse before it is too late. She is the first Pixar heroine to officially join the prestigious line-up of Disney Princesses. This figurine captures all of Merida’s pride and wild spirit, making it a must-have for all fans of animation and legendary adventure stories.
