History and background of the model
Inspired by the legendary Chinese figure of Hua Mulan, the character was created by Disney Studios for the 36th animated classic of the same name, released in 1998. Directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook, the film tells the story of a young woman who defies the laws of her country by disguising herself as a man to replace her ailing father in the Imperial Army. Mulan stands out in the pantheon of Disney princesses for her determination, bravery and freedom from traditional roles.
Marketed by Funko, the "Grand Entrances" series features the franchise's heroines dressed in elaborate ceremonial outfits, offering a stylish textile reinterpretation of their memorable wardrobes.
