Origin and character’s universe
Created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, Deadpool (Wade Wilson) is a mercenary with a superhuman accelerated healing factor and an unfortunate tendency to break the fourth wall to address the audience directly. No stranger to absurd disguises and parodies of all kinds, he draws direct inspiration here from a landmark of Spanish and world literature: Miguel de Cervantes’ *The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha *. In this work, the protagonist loses his mind from reading too many chivalric romances and sets off on the road to right wrongs, mistaking windmills for giants. This Funko Pop! figurine perfectly captures Deadpool’s provocative spirit with a touch of satire, sporting the makeshift armour and look of the famous ‘Knight of the Sad Countenance’ whilst retaining his signature red and black costume. An essential must-have for all comic book enthusiasts keen to add an original, themed touch to their Marvel collection.
