Origin and character’s universe
First broadcast in 1999, the cult animated series *Batman Beyond* expands on Bruce Timm’s universe by transporting viewers to the high-tech future of Neo-Gotham in the year 2039. It is against this cyberpunk backdrop that the young Terry McGinnis dons the costume of a high-tech Batman under the tutelage of an ageing Bruce Wayne. Derek Powers is a ruthless billionaire who has merged his industrial empire with Wayne Enterprises. Accidentally exposed to a deadly gas of his own design during a confrontation with Batman, he undergoes experimental radiation treatment to survive. This process transforms his body into a radioactive skeleton emitting a constant glow of translucent green energy, forcing him to wear a synthetic skin that disintegrates under the effect of his own anger. Now known as Blight, he has established himself as the ultimate nemesis and the dark mirror image of this new era of Gotham’s protectors. This Funko Pop! figurine from the ‘Pop! Plus’ range perfectly captures his iconic skeletal and radioactive aesthetic, an essential addition to complete your DC Comics collection.
