In *Batman*, directed by Tim Burton and released in 1989, Bruce Wayne is a wealthy philanthropist from Gotham City who secretly fights crime under the identity of Batman. Haunted since childhood by the murder of his parents, he uses his skills, his equipment and his nocturnal alter ego to fight the city’s criminals. Michael Keaton plays Batman, whilst Jack Nicholson portrays his main adversary, the Joker.
This adaptation helped establish a darker, more gothic vision of the character in cinema. The black costume, the yellow emblem, the Batmobile and the aesthetic of Gotham as envisioned by Tim Burton have become strongly associated with this incarnation of the hero. DC also highlights the film’s importance in Batman’s resurgence in popularity in the late 1980s.
The DAH-114 figure faithfully recreates this cinematic version, featuring the costume worn by Michael Keaton and the iconic accessories used by Batman in the film.
