Character background and lore
Released in cinemas in 2024 by Pixar Studios,Inside Out 2 is the sequel to the first film, which was acclaimed by critics worldwide. The story returns to the headquarters of Riley’s mind, as she navigates the tumultuous phase of adolescence. As her emotional world undergoes a major overhaul, the original team – consisting of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust – must suddenly make way for a whole host of new, particularly overwhelming emotions, led by Anxiety.
Joy is the driving, positive emotion who has looked after Riley’s happiness since she was born. Recognisable by her glowing skin, her yellow-green dress and her sparkling blue hair, she always strives to see the bright side of things, even when chaos takes hold. In this second instalment, faced with the tyranny of Anxiety, which pushes Riley to reject her true personality, Joy will have to learn that every emotion – old and new alike – has a crucial role to play in helping the young girl grow up peacefully. This figurine perfectly captures her boundless energy and ever-present smile, making it an essential, radiant addition to any collector’s collection from the world of Pixar.
