TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE - Autobot Wheelie - Figure Deluxe Class 11.4cm

This Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Deluxe Class figure depicts the Autobot Wheelie as he appeared in the 1986 animated film *The Transformers: The Movie*. Standing approximately 11.4 cm tall in robot mode, it captures the young Autobot’s compact and colourful design whilst offering a full transformation into a Cybertronian car. The transformation from one mode to the other involves 23 steps.

Wheelie is reproduced with his distinctive colour scheme, dominated by orange, grey and yellow. The figure features several points of articulation, allowing for a variety of poses, and aims to recreate the character’s proportions as they appear in the feature film. Its alternate mode takes the form of a small, futuristic Cybertronian vehicle, directly inspired by its animated appearance.

The figure comes with Wheelie’s iconic slingshot. This accessory can be attached in both robot mode and car mode, allowing the weapon to be retained during transformation. This design choice is a direct reference to one of his earliest scenes in the film, in which Wheelie uses his slingshot against Grimlock before joining the Dinobots.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Wheelie is a young Autobot who first appeared in *The Transformers: The Movie*, an animated feature film released in 1986. Small in comparison to many other Transformers, he stands out for his daring nature, his slingshot and, above all, his very distinctive way of speaking: Wheelie regularly constructs his sentences in the form of rhymes. Hasbro describes him as a small, boisterous character who does not shy away from robots far larger than himself.

Wheelie appears on the Quintessons’ planet whilst Grimlock and the other Dinobots are searching for Hot Rod and Kup. He begins by taunting Grimlock and even fires his slingshot at him, before revealing that he knows where their companions are. He then leads the Dinobots to the chamber where the Quintessons hold their sinister trials.

Wheelie, Grimlock and the Dinobots then step in to rescue Hot Rod and Kup from the judgement of the Quintessons and their Sharkticons. Hasbro has already used this sequence, dubbed ‘Mockery of Justice’, as a reference scene for several Studio Series figures dedicated to Grimlock and Wheelie. Following their escape, Wheelie continues the adventure alongside the Autobots and the Dinobots.

His alternate mode is a small, futuristic-looking Cybertronian car, faithfully reproduced by this Deluxe Class figure. Combined with his compact size, his slingshot and his rhyming speech, these elements make Wheelie one of the most instantly recognisable characters introduced in the 1986 film *Transformers*.
