Character background and universe (Lore)

Lala Satalin Deviluke is one of the main heroines of To LOVE-Ru and the first princess of the planet Deviluke. As a member of the royal family that rules the planet, she is destined to play an important role in the kingdom’s succession.

At the start of the story, however, Lala decides to flee Deviluke to escape the many suitors her royal status has brought upon her. Her journey takes her to Earth, where she accidentally meets Rito Yuuki, a sixth-former whose life is soon turned upside down by her arrival.

Lala has an extremely enthusiastic, spontaneous and curious personality. Unfamiliar with Earthly customs, she regularly causes situations that are as unpredictable as they are comical, but she also stands out for her great kindness towards those around her.

Behind her sometimes carefree nature lies, above all, a genius inventor. Lala is capable of designing numerous advanced technological devices, even if her creations regularly produce unexpected side effects.

She is also recognisable by Peke, her robotic companion, who is notably capable of transforming to create different outfits for her. Her long tail, ending in a heart-shaped tip, is another characteristic feature of her Deviluke heritage.

Lala is the elder sister of Nana Astar Deviluke and Momo Belia Deviluke, two other Deviluke princesses who also end up settling on Earth and playing an important role in the series’ development.

In To LOVE-Ru Darkness, Lala remains a key figure in Rito’s circle, although the story places greater emphasis on Momo and the new developments surrounding the series’ various alien and artificial characters.
