THE SMURFS - Smurf snake back - Money Box PVC 19cm

THE SMURFS – Snail-Riding Smurf – PVC Money Box, 19 cm

This Smurf riding a snail money box from Plastoy transforms a whimsical scene from the world created by Peyo into a decorative and functional object. Made from PVC, it depicts a Smurf riding a snail, in a design featuring the rounded shapes and bright colours typical of the franchise.

The Smurf, recognisable by his blue skin and traditional white cap, is perched on the snail’s shell like a rider. The mount takes up a large part of the design, with its long antennae, bulky shell and friendly expression. The piece as a whole has a light-hearted and humorous aesthetic, perfectly suited to the Smurfs’ woodland world.

As well as serving as a money box, this piece can also be used as a decorative item on a shelf, a desk or as part of a collection dedicated to Peyo’s characters.

Origin and character background (Lore)

The Smurfs are small blue creatures living in a village hidden deep in the heart of the forest. Although they share a similar appearance, the official website points out that they each have their own personality and distinctive traits, from Papa Smurf to Brainy Smurf, not forgetting Hefty Smurf, Joker Smurf and Handy Smurf.

The forest plays a vital role in their world: it surrounds their village of mushroom houses and provides the setting for many adventures, encounters and discoveries. The animals and creatures that inhabit it regularly contribute to this atmosphere, where ordinary objects and beings take on a whole new dimension on the Smurfs’ scale.

Plastoy does not identify the rider on this piggy bank as a specific Smurf: it is simply a Smurf riding a snail. The scene therefore plays primarily on the difference in scale characteristic of their world: for these characters ‘no taller than three apples’, a simple snail can become a proper mount, giving this piggy bank its humorous and adventurous character.
