Origin and background of the character
Released in 1991 and directed by Jonathan Demme, The Silenceof the Lambs is an absolute cinematic masterpiece, winner of five major Oscars. The plot follows Clarice Starling, a brilliant young FBI trainee assigned to a high-stakes psychological mission. To track down a fugitive serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill", she is sent to the heart of a high-security asylum to interview Dr Hannibal Lecter. Masterfully and chillingly portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, this brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic killer uses his surgical intellect to manipulate the young woman’s mind through a perverse psychological game of “give and take” (quid pro quo). This figurine captures the cynical and unsettling aesthetic of this pop culture monster, perfect for creating an atmosphere of tension in the centre of your display cabinet.
