Origin and background of the characters
This legendary pop culture duo is directly inspired by the science fiction masterpiece *Star Wars: Episode V –The Empire Strikes Back*, released in cinemas in 1980 and directed by Irvin Kershner. Whilst Imperial forces relentlessly hunt down the rebels, Princess Leia Organa and Captain Han Solo find themselves confined together within Echo Base on the hostile, frozen planet of Hoth. Clad in their thermal suits and parkas designed to protect against the polar cold, the two characters share memorable exchanges blending cynicism, banter and budding romantic tension amidst the chaos of the Imperial invasion. This exclusive miniature set captures this legendary cinematic couple at the very moment their fate takes a turn, just before their dramatic escape aboard the Millennium Falcon through the asteroid field.
