Origin and character background
Directly inspired by one of the most caustic recurring sketches in American television pop culture, this figurine celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the famous satirical programme Saturday Night Live. It features veteran field reporter Herb Welch, masterfully portrayed on screen by comedian Bill Hader. A senior reporter for the local news channel WNYW Channel 2 News, this elderly, deeply embittered man, cynical and utterly indifferent to studio instructions, spends his time ignoring important news stories to insult his interviewees live on air or to aggressively hit them in the face with his large vintage handheld microphone.
This Funko Pop! figure captures his distinctive retro look with great graphic fidelity, characterised by his classic brown overcoat, glasses, tousled grey hair and menacing stance, brandishing his famous interview microphone. An absolutely exceptional choice to complete your collection of American comedy icons.
