Origin and background of the character
Created in 1969 by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for Hanna-Barbera Studios, Scooby-Doo (whose real name is Scoobert-Doo) has stood the test of time across generations. Accompanied by his faithful sidekick Sammy Rogers and their friends Fred, Daphne and Velma, this cowardly dog travels the roads in the Mystery Machine to unmask fake monsters, spectres and criminal ghosts. Although he trembles at the slightest scare and far prefers to tuck into ‘Scooby Snacks’, his legendary cowardice regularly leads him to invent particularly farcical makeshift hiding places.
This Funko Pop! figurine perfectly captures the cartoonish humour of the original animated series. Panicked during an investigation in a haunted mansion or a mysterious museum, the famous brown Great Dane with black spots tried to hide in a large red ornamental vase. The figurine captures the comical moment when only his long front legs, his neck adorned with his precious blue collar featuring a gold ‘SD’ medallion, and his terrified head are visible above the vase. A centrepiece brimming with nostalgia and humour, essential for rekindling childhood memories at the heart of your display cabinet.
