Meet Syd of Mizar, Divine Warrior of the star Zeta, from the Asgard arc of *Saint Seiya*, with this new 40th Anniversary Ver. release from the *Saint Cloth Myth EX* range by Bandai Spirits / Tamashii Nations. Standing approximately 18 cm tall, this commemorative version celebrates the series’ 40th anniversary and also marks the completion of the Asgard Divine Warriors collection within the Saint Cloth Myth EX range.
This edition features several improvements over the previous Saint Cloth Myth EX version of Syd. The body now utilises EX METAL technology, whilst the facial features have been reworked with more detailed sculpting and colouring. Certain parts of the hair have also been redesigned, and the cape is made of fabric to facilitate posing whilst maintaining a more natural look.
The figure comes with five pairs of interchangeable hands, three alternative facial expressions and a replacement mask piece. His Zeta God Robe can be mounted on Syd or reassembled into its ‘Object’ form using the supplied stand, featuring the sabre-toothed tiger motif associated with the character. This special edition also includes a commemorative Saint Seiya 40th Anniversary base and an exclusive display case illustrated by Michi Himeno.
Syd of Mizar is one of the Divine Warriors of Asgard, characters introduced in the arc created specifically for the Saint Seiya anime adaptation. Associated with the star Zeta, he serves Hilda of Polaris and is presented by Tamashii Nations as one of her leading warriors, with a power level considered to be just below that of Siegfried of Dubhe. His green God Robe features feline motifs and can take the form of a sabre-toothed tiger when assembled as an Object.
Syd enters the fray right at the start of the Asgard crisis. In episode 74 of the anime series, Hilda gathers the seven Divine Warriors to oppose the Sanctuary. Syd is then sent to Japan: after facing Aldebaran of Taurus, he heads to the Kido residence to confront Saori Kido, marking the first direct confrontation between the heroes and the warriors of Asgard.
This 40th Anniversary Ver. edition therefore retains Syd’s iconic appearance whilst modernising the original 2020 Saint Cloth Myth EX figure. Its new EX METAL body, reworked faces and hair, fabric cape and commemorative elements make this a version specially designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Saint Seiya and the complete reunion of the Divine Warriors of Asgard in the collection.
