Character background and universe (Lore)

Rem is one of the central characters in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, a series of light novels written by Tappei Nagatsuki. She works as a maid at Roswaal’s manor alongside her twin sister, Ram.

A member of the Oni race, Rem possesses considerable physical strength and can summon a horn that greatly enhances her combat abilities. She also wields an imposing mace attached to a chain, making her a formidable fighter despite her calm and reserved demeanour.

Her relationship with Subaru Natsuki evolves significantly as the story unfolds. Initially wary of him, Rem gradually becomes one of his most important sources of support and develops very strong feelings for him.

Thanks to her loyal nature, her determination and her instantly recognisable design—with her blue hair and maid’s uniform—Rem has become one of the most popular characters in Re:Zero and a staple of the series’ figurine collections.
