Character background and universe (Lore)

Ram is one of the key characters in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, a series of light novels written by Tappei Nagatsuki. She works as a servant at Roswaal’s mansion alongside her twin sister, Rem.

Like Rem, Ram belongs to the Oni race, but her background is very different. As a child, she possessed exceptional talent and was regarded as a prodigy within her clan. However, the loss of her horn has severely limited her abilities.

Ram nevertheless retains a high degree of mastery over wind magic and displays a very strong-willed character. Sarcastic, direct and often mocking towards Subaru Natsuki, she hides a genuine loyalty towards those she cares about behind her cold demeanour.

Her relationship with Rem, Roswaal and Subaru plays a significant role in her development. Thanks to her sharp temperament, her intelligence and her instantly recognisable appearance—with her pink hair and maid’s uniform—Ram has become one of the iconic figures of Re:Zero.
