Character background and lore

Mai Sakurajima is one of the main heroines of *Rascal Does Not Dream*, a series of light novels written by Hajime Kamoshida. A former child actress who is now a sixth-former, she is known for her calm, intelligent and often slightly sarcastic nature.

Her story is directly linked to the mysterious Adolescence Syndrome, a supernatural phenomenon that manifests the emotional and psychological turmoil experienced by certain teenagers. Mai is one of its first victims when those around her gradually begin to lose the ability to perceive her.

Her encounter with Sakuta Azusagawa plays a decisive role in her journey. Sakuta is one of the few who can still see her and seeks to understand the cause of her gradual invisibility. Their relationship subsequently develops to become one of the central elements of the series.

Thanks to her elegance, her intelligence and the depth of her relationship with Sakuta, Mai Sakurajima has become one of the most iconic characters in *Rascal Does Not Dream*. This ‘Chinese Dress’ version offers a more festive and refined interpretation of the character, ideal for collectors looking for an original variation.
